  • The Kinross House is located north of Edinburgh on Loch Leven. When the early October sky lit up on a morning that weather forcasters had said would bring rain, I thought I had received a gift from Heaven.

  • This picture was taken near sunset. The road runs along the eastern side of Loch Fyne in Scotland.

  • The Hermitage is managed by the National Trust for Scotland. The area is magical, complete with a stone bridge. The falls are beautiful.

  • Eilean Donan Castle is located on the western side of Scotland near the hamlet of Dornie. This image was taken  on a cloudy  October day in the early morning hours.

  • Gearr Aonach (Short Ridge) and Aonach Dubh (Black Ridge) are located in the Glencoe region of the Scottish Highlands and is managed by  the Scottish National Trust.

  • The Kinross House is located north of Edinburgh on the western shore of Loch Leven. Looking beyond "The Fish Gate" you can see Lochleven Castle. Even in early October flowers are in bloom and the grass feels like fine carpet.

  • Traveling on A83 in the late afternoon light made for many stops to catch the scenery.

  • When you enter Glen Coe from the west this is what you see.

  • The Falls of Bruar were visited by the Scottish poet Robert Burns in 1787 who noted that the Falls were exceedingly beautiful but without trees and shrubs. His poem "The Humble Petition of Bruar Waters" pleaded with the landowner, the 4th Duke of Atholl to plant trees along it's banks. No trees in this picture but what a great place to visit.

  • Glencoe in October as the evening sun illuminates the mountains.

  • The single lane road along the eastern side of Loch Fyne is a great place to be when the sun is ready to set.

  • The day began with clouds with an occasional ray of sunlight breaking through. This picyure was taken at Eilean Donan Castle looking down Loch Duich.

  • The Isle of Skye has breathtaking vistas and is worth the journey.

  • Heading south along Loch Duich the rain could be seen in the sunlit hills. It wasn't long until the clouds shut out the sunlight.

  • St. Giles Catherdral  in Edinburgh is a beautiful catherdral with towering columns and incredible stained glass windows.

  • The Fish Gate allows access from the Kinross House and gardens to Loch Leven.

  • Rainbows are numerous when the conditions are right in the Scottish Highlands.

  • Lora is one of two female harbor seals in residence at The Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary on the western side of Scotland north of Oban. She sure can swim.

  • Kilchurn Castle was built in about 1450 by Sir Colin Campbell. It sits on the Northeastern end of Loch Awe in Argyll and Bute Scotland. Over time it was expanded. A violent storm in 1760 damaged the castle and it was abandoned.

  • Highland Coo are prolific eaters of heather.

  • Take the A87 from  Dornie and turn right once you get to the end of Loch Duich. Follow the road up to the top of the mountain. Coming down the other side this is your view.

  • The Isle of Bute, in the Firth of Clyde,  is separated from the mainland of Scotland by a narrow channel called the Kyles of Bute.

  • This farm is located on the single lane road leading to  the town of Galitair in Western Scotland.

  • St Giles Cathedral- Edinburgh
  • The Thistle Chapel was designed by Robert Lorimer. It contains stalls for the 16 knights, the Sovereign's stall and two Royal stalls.It was finished in 1911.
